Description

Two slices of petrified swamp Cypress, very rare, from Ellensburg, Washington. Growth rings are blurred. (Gift shop). Colors: A bent center contains many tear shaped holes, in various sizes, within a beige wood, surrounded by tans, browns, beiges, whites, and grey. Off center is a circular pattern indicating a knot or a second tree, in brown. One side of the piece contains a band of white wood with several tear shaped holes. Probably from Oligocene epoch, Tertiary period, Cenozoic era (~40 mya).
