Description

Description: Martin Guitar (1921): C.F. Martin & Company is highly regarded for its steel-string guitars, and is a leading mass manufacturer of flattop acoustics. Martin is a US guitar manufacturer established in 1833 by Christian Frederick Martin. Throughout its history, the company has been run by the Martin family. The current chairman and CEO is the great-great-great-grandson of the founder. Martin has models that retail for thousands of dollars, and vintage instruments that often fetch six figures at resale. Most Martin guitars made are "flat top" models. That is, they have a round sound hole in approximately the center of the flat top of the guitar, with a "pin" style bridge. Martin flat top guitars were made in various sizes. Body sizes, pretty much from smallest to biggest, include O, OO, OOO, OM, D. Our Martin has serial number 16090, placing this guitar as built in 1921 (1921 serial numbers are 15849 - 16758). As Martin guitars before 1930 were not marked as to model, measurements indicate that our body size is OO. Further grades within OO size are the -18 and -28 models. The company's headquarters and primary factory are in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, which matches a tag on this guitar.
