Description

A .9 cm thick slice of petrified wood from Sweet Home, Oregon, near Scio, Oregon at Thomas Creek (West Central Oregon). Piece shows brecciation (where wood was broken and reset) And bleaching from water. Piece is cut with grain. Colors: a dark center mass in dark brown and beige, containing blue silicate filled cracks and A “Y" shaped crack. Surrounding the wood is in tan and beige from bleaching. Probably from Oligocene epoch, Tertiary period, Cenozoic era (~40 mya).
