A rounded fossil of the coral Hexagonaria percarinata, commonly called a "Petoskey Stone." The common name comes from a region of Michigan state. The Petoskey stone is rounded and smooth because of abrasion by ice and water.
Shows hexagonal pattern of a petrified colonial rugose coral. (Naturally?) Polished on one side. Some corallites have a dark center.
