Chemical Composition: CaCO3 Crystal System: Hexagonal System Description: Common Name: Calcite Chemistry: CaCO3, Calcium Carbonate Group: Carbonates Location: Unknown Description: A slab of banded calcite that has been cut on one edge and cut and polished on one face. It is natural on the other side. Colors are greys, whites and tans in numerous layers. Each band looks like they have dendrites, moss or fern which gives the piece a lacy appearance. Piece has been mistaken for opal by some.
