Description

A 2.6 cm thick slice of petrified wood, from Washington, showing annual growth rings with a clear record of good and bad growth years, reflecting the weather. Colors: A brown center is surrounded by areas of whites, greys, and brown with some pink streak; bordered with black. Outermost border is in beige. Several cracks extend outward from the center. Centermost border is beige. Several cracks extend outward from the centermost point, which is silicate filled. Probably from Oligocene epoch, Tertiary period, Cenozoic era (~40 mya).
