Description

A piece of petrified wood from the Dallas dam along the Columbia River, Oregon (northern Oregon). Delmar Smith obtained this from a construction worker who worked at the dam. (Removed from inventory to gift shop 12/05/2000). Colors: Pinkish-brown with dark grey-brown sides. Grey- brown streaks in some of the grain. One crystalline crack, one agatized crack, wood is cut with the grain. Unpolished sides have a whitish coating. Probably from Oligocene epoch, Tertiary period, Cenozoic era (~40 mya).
