Description

A 1.9 cm thick slab of petrified wood from "Badger Pocket" or "Gopher Pocket" near Ellensburg, Washington. The wood is opalized. Colors: An open center is surrounded by a small white line, then a black area. A wide beige band surrounds the center, then black, then white at the outermost edge. Yellow is found at one side and is spotted over a beige band, cracks extend from center outward. Growth rings apparent. Probably from Oligocene epoch, Tertiary period, Cenozoic era (~40 mya).
