The State Rock of Oregon adopted March 29, 1965. Named by the Indians from their legend. During ancient times, disputes between the Gods of Mt. Hood and Mt. Jefferson. The Gods threw the Thundereggs at one another in anger. Eventually the surrounding land was littered with these gem filled spheres. Found mostly West of the Rocky Mountains.
