A piece of petrified wood (root of palm), from Yermo, California (center of Death Valley). Probably from Jurassic period, Mesozoic era. Delmar Smith says this plant grew during a time when there was a lot of rain carried by the trade winds. Plant grew like a palm with branches and leaves resembling fern. There are many "eyes" of grey with darker centers surrounded by a groundmass of yellows and browns. Tropical tree. Probably ~200 myaCollection
