Family: Fabaceae Genus: Olneya Common name: Desert Ironwood Age: Pliocene Location data: Palm Springs Formation (South-western U.S.) Description: A piece of petrified ironwood found in the south-western part of the United States. It has turned to sandstone. "Lignavita" is the name of the original wood. Piece is medium brown in color. A round "hole" is present on one side in a darker color. Size: 13.750"x 5.250"x 3.750"
