Impressions of seals carved with the owner’s name are used to mark ownership on traditional Chinese paintings and calligraphy. The knob on the lavender jadeite seal shows a puppy with its head turned to one side. The gray nephrite square seal shows an arched finial incised with a pattern of C-shaped scrolls, likely imitating designs found on ancient bronzes and jades.
