Retrieved from Enamel Arts Foundation website: [https://www.enamelarts.org/aioula-15/] Aioula #15 of 1988 is part of a series of work in which richly colored enamels applied in a vibrant, painterly manner are framed within attenuated organic shapes juxtaposed in a dynamic counterpoint with gracefully arcing forms in silver and gold. The name of the series, “Aioula” comes from a word meaning “garden” in the southern Italian dialect the artist’s grandmother spoke as a child. As in Bennett’s earlier Calypsos and Deerrun series, the Aioulas possess an elegant linearity and a gracefully flowing rhythm. [IR 06/23/2025]
