Chen Li YingDescription
This was the largest painting in Chen Yi Ling's 2015 exhibit at Yiri Arts in Kaohsiung, and I was very pleased to acquire it from that show. It's a beautiful, elegant take on the landscape, and although it has very traditional Chinese landscape elements, its format is that of a western landscape. There are intricately painted areas with glistening paint; this painting quite literally glows. In keeping with Chen's unique take on the relationship of nature and technology, he has embedded, among the pair of massive, rocky, mountainous forms that fill the picture plane, remnants and relics of some kind of industrial civilization. The dominant oranges, russet reds and deep golden yellows of the outcroppings contrasts beautifully with the range of vivid greens that form the backdrop for this distinctive landscape. Immediately after this exhibit, Chen produced a series of paintings featuring aerial views of traditional temples, such as the one that can be seen in the lower center of the painting.Dimensions
