Description
One of the poems in The Notebook Prints reads:
So I take another look
It's a brilliant white morning
In the photograph
There her face
Part of the simple line
I walk from
Generations of ice not lace
Iron mines of Michigan
Labor and stone
Cathedrals in an old country
O black virgin your grace
This is the photograph I was referencing in the poem. It shows my father's mother standing in front of the huge snowpiles common to the U.P. She is standing with Charlie Ziller, whom she married after my grandfather passed away. Another time, just as my time is now another time.
