Description

I love cheap materials. I hope you do, too. The grid on the tower continues (as incised lines) on the top of the base. I feel the images inside the grid, as well as the embedded pieces on the sides of the tower suggest a complex game. Perhaps the "3 Graces" occupying the underside of the tower (orangey forms covered in beads) have been playing the game and are waiting in limbo for the results. Aren't we all? Once again, I have lifted excerpts from WG Sebald, but here I suggest that the characters on the back of the tower are reading them, endlessly mouthing their lines. At least, they are good ones. For the underside of the base I kept the original aged white paint of the piece of wood that I found, and used with all its scars. Maybe they represent the wounds of the Tibetan people, one of whom peers out at us from inside the circular frame.
