A truly historical scene taken in Tamshui, an old fishing village, of a device used to measure the water height of the river. In the background can be seen fishing boats with sails, and a much larger boat in the distance on the left. This was part of a series that Wu Shao-Tung referred to as "Unpublished Black and White World of Imagery."Dimensions

Historical NoteNote
The photo was part of an exhibit in Taipei commemorating a defunct gallery called Rose Marie, which was a catalyst for photographers of a certain era. This image was printed for the occasion of the show from the original negative. I included photos of the brochure from the exhibit, which was held at TIVAC (Taiwan International Visual Arts Center) in Taipei, in 2007.
