Wu Song MingDescription
In this stunning interpretation of a female, Song Ming showcases his unique sense of color and his ability to create an emotional response in the viewer. The wistful expression of the woman's face was created through multiple types of cuts in the wood block, some thin, some angular, some curved. Song Ming leaves the eyes blank and dark, and the full lips are divided by a sensuous deep red line. All emotion is conveyed through the face and the color; the woman's hands are not shown, but we sense they are held closely to her hips. You can see how thick the oil ink has become in some areas, due to the fact that the image is printed by hand, without a press.Inscription/Signature/Marks
