Description

Using horizontal, alternating bands of black and white to ground the image, Wu Song Ming proceeds to play around with abstracted semi-grotesque human forms. The figure that seems to fly into the picture plane from the right is identifiable as a male figure, but has only one visible arm and its interior space is filled with calligraphic lines rather than any recognizable human parts. His arm thrusts between a vertical form which can be seen, in a generous interpretation, as a pair of legs; the painted nails of the hand attached to the limb are an additional strangeness. Just above the head of this male figure there appears (in the "background" ) a form suggestive of a second human head, though featureless. The right side of the image is dominated by a sculptural vertical shape, filled with swirling, intertwined lines that are encased by a strong line defining the shape. the energy in this print derives from Wu Song Ming's use of flat black and white areas contrasted with masses of dynamic lines.
