022Description
This drawing in ink and ink wash seems to come from the Paris period, when Song Ming was leaving lots of white space in his images. The angular back-and-forth of the central figurative element is somewhat unusual for Wu Song Ming, as is the central vertical line that seems to divide the image into two. As he does in many of his images, Wu Song Ming combines figurative elements with suggestions of a landscape. His use of areas of black marks in contrast to a very light wash and large open spaces helps to center the focus north and south along the center line.Inscription/Signature/Marks
