Description

Theophilus Kilby House, Water Street, Dennysville, Maine. This was later the home of Irving and Florence Kilby and later members of the Juska/Mahar family. In 1881, the house was occupied by Alfred Kilby, son of Theophilus.

Context

Theophilus Kilby, son of William and brother of John, built his home on the hill beyond his father's house. The property was handed down from father to son, Alfred Kilby, and to grandson Irving Kilby. After being owned a few years by Alton and Bessie Curtis, the residence was purchased by William and Muriel (Mahar) Juska, for use as a summer home. In the late 19th century the barn was moved a hundred feet farther up the hill from the house.
