Description

An 1861 map of Marion shows a school located near the junction of the old Stagecoach Road with the Marion Station Road. It was not recorded on the1881 map of Marion, and no trace of the schoolhouse exists today.

Context

A schoolhouse was located at the junction between the old Stagecoach Road and what came to be called the Marion Station Road on the 1860 map of Washington County. The Reverend Mighill Blood records travelling over the stagecoach from Robbinston to Buckstown on what must have been a very uncomfortable trip in 1819.
