Context

This house was built by Robert T. Smith, one of the sons of William H. and Deborah (Carter) Smith who came to Edmunds in 1813. After Robert's death the house was occupied by Irving and Mildred (Hallowell) Kelley. They had 2 daughters, Kathleen and Dorothy "Dot". Kathleen was a schoolteacher and came home summers following her father's death.
