Postcard image of the Post Office in Meddybemps, Maine, at one time W.E. Tarbell's' Store and later operated by Effie Gillespie. Images from the 1930's and an earlier view of the village from the Colby Atlas of 1881 reveal several locations of the village post office.

Context

Meddybemps Post Office was located in Effie Gillespie's house, formerly Tarbell's Store, from the 1950s through the early 1970s, when it burned. The post office then moved into the Paula Abney house in the village before being relocated in the new Town Hall.
