Description

Towse's Corner, U. S. Route 1, Edmunds, Maine

Context

The house of W. Towse marked this unusually sharp corner until the highway was straightened in the 1950's. In her history of Dennysville and Edmunds Rebecca Hobart writes: "The remainder of U.S. Route One, including the very crooked section between the Guide Board and Towse corner, was constructed and for the most part, rerouted, from near Bell's Bridge to Dennys River in the 1950's."
