Description

Double-headed serpent, nobleman's belt. The belt is beaded in a geometric design with white, red, and blue beads.

Context

In the Bamum kingdom which is the largest kingdom in Cameroon, glass beads are utilized in the decoration of royal attire. This particular work seems to be a belt for a nobleman. At the ends of the belt where ends meet it creates a double-headed serpent, which symbolizes the king of the kingdom in Bamum culture.
