Description

Knife with a wrapped handle, two large blades, and a smaller blade closer to the handle.

Context

Throwing knives are iconic pieces of central African weaponry. The design of the throwing knives are intricate and come in different shapes, but mostly with multiple blades. The three blades on the throwing knife helps to keep the knife perfectly balanced when thrown; they are to be thrown side arm or overhand generally. The intricate blades are a site to behold and it is known that beautifully crafted blades were a sign of wealth.
