Context

The Nyamwezi people of Tanzania are attributed to these distinct elongated human figure sculptures. The terminology used for these sculptures is simply Nyamwezi figures. The figures are used in a variety of different spiritual experience such as witchcraft, magic, and social entertainment. Also the figure was used as a tool in cults centered around spirits in order to enhance the manipulation of spirits.
