Jules Dupré was a french landscape artist and a member of the “Barbizon School” of painters. Barbizon, a village in France, became an important place for landscape painters in the mid-1800’s, thanks to its enchanting forest scenery. This painting is typical of Dupré’s art, with its village scene and dramatic sky.
