Streaks in various directions on a grey backgrounds. Some streaks are colorful in their lines. This effect was created by the artist capturing his finger dragging across a digital surface.Context
In this series by Nelemans turned his attention to the intimate relationship between bodies and devices. He asked: How do personal gestures shape wear we expert from our screens? Using a translucent gelatin material to highlight RGB color filters, he dragged his finger across a digital surface, capturing the trace of this gesture. The resulting image was then flattened and stripped of identifying details, such as fingertips, to produce an abstracted, universal record of touch. Here, Nelemans emphasized the physicality of digital engagement-- foregrounding the embodied act of swiping rather than the content it delivers. By removing our active participation, he left behind only the visual residue of interaction, shifting the focus from utility to contemplation.Acquisition
