Context

"Drawing is the nucleus of my work; it is the core from which my work grows, allowing me to move my ideas forward. Responding to materials and situations, my drawings are made in series of varying lengths that resemble storyboards. Through the repetitive drawing of ordinary and familiar objects, I am able to disconnect from the implication of their significance, to examine the relevance of these objects as purely visual topics. Swarm no 1-16 are monoprints produced by rolling oil paint onto a sheet of Plexiglass. The technique of monoprinting is employed to transfer image to paper. Paper is laid gently on top of the wet oil paint and an image is drawn on the reverse shifting the pigment to the paper. Swarm is a large series of over 1,000 images produced to create an animation completed in 2005. Images were created quickly each form responding to the previous." - Fraser Taylor
