Context
The piece itself is an early work from Krane's project "From a Project Regarding Perennial Time" (based on watching a hydrangea shrub during seasons in Chicago since Fall, 1999).
"It is particularly important to me for a few reasons: (i) it presents my direct observation of the exact colors of a hydrangea flower that had been bleached by the sun through the summer and fall until January and February; (ii) within the project, it presents “research” that was fundamental to my formation of ideas of what perennial time looks like; and (iii) I made the marks on the piece." - Krane
