Description

From preface: In the Tibetan path of Vajrayana there is a most profound body of teaching called the Six Yogas of Naropa. These are very advanced practices designed to bring the yogi to a direct experience and understanding of form, energy and Universal Dharma. It is a skilful path that shapes the meditator's being, both physically and mentally, removing and unblocking knots and hinderances in the body energy field so that the deep, calm concentration that is necessary to 'see' these profound Dharmas may arise. Namgyal Rinpoche has taught these Six Yogas in a variety of circumstances. Some aspects of these yogas are immediately useful to the serious student of Dharma whereas others are so elusive that only deep retreat work will render up the experiences to which these practices are pointing. The Six Yogas consist of Heat Yoga, Illusory Body Yoga, Dream Yoga, Light Yoga, Bardo Yoga and Transformation Yoga, however, all teachers of the Yogas consider the Heat Yoga to be the most important since it lays the foundation upon which the other five are based. For this reason we have prepared a short booklet which contains the Pith Instructions for the preliminary practice of the Dumo Yoga along with some explanations. We have limited the booklet to the initial stages since they will be immediately pertinent and useful to many meditators, whereas to include the advanced practice would, for most beings, be merely theoretic. This booklet has been compiled from notes taken from the Rinpoche's lectures on the subject.
