Notes

The WIELAND has required numerous repairs in its lengthy history. The most recent major renovation was by Jon Bielinski and many volunteers using the Dolphin Club boat shop. From 1991 to 1997 the barge was rebuilt to new condition. Copies of sheets all 6 sheets of showing lines, scaled lines, measurements, and construction detail drawings are included in this entry. Sheets 4, 5, 6 were framed and hung in Main Boathouse (Artifact 322) in March 2021.

Notes

March 2019: Julia Hechanova took the WIELAND lofting (full size drawing of the 40’ Pleasure Barge) to the Library of Congress (LOC), specifically to the HAER (Historic American Engineering Records), a database maintained by the NPS on behalf of the LOC, to permit them to scan the full size drawing for HAER collections. August 2023 update: The original lofting drawings by Jon Bielinski are at the Dolphin Club. Jon did the drawings in 1991 at the start of the renovation. These were retraced in CAD by HAER and and are now numbered as sheets 1, 2, and 3 of 6. Julia Hechanova pulled lines from the WIELAND lofting to create sheets 4, 5, and 6 which are scaled lines, measurements, and construction detail drawings (including a table of offsets as well as scantlings/ materials) which were also donated to HAER Collections. The WIELAND's assigned HAER number is CA-2360. The 6 sheets of drawings and the history written by Richard Cooper are posted on this site: https://www.loc.gov/pictures/collection/hh/item/ca4418/
