Notes

This half hull model was made by Boat Night volunteers and Jon Bielinsiki. In April 1992, Jon completed the full-scale lofting of the WIELAND. Measurements from this, called offsets, were used to make a scale drawing of the WIELAND shape where 3/4” equals 1’. That drawing was completed in October of 1992 by Boat Night volunteers Marti Spiegleman and Brian Huse. That drawing allowed the half model to be built to the same scale. The half hull model is made of basswood. Work on transferring scale drawings to wood pieces was done also by Marti and Brian, and by volunteers Lee Caldwell and Nick Strelchek. Jon glued all the pieces together and shaped the half model. The volunteers varnished it. The brass pieces were engraved by a trophy company. The completed model was hung on the east wall of the Staib Room February 24, 1993. (Information received Jon Bielinski August 28, 2025).
