Life member Brian Gilbert (joined 1968) was on the swim timer team for many years, as the person who handed out the numbered sticks to determine finishing place of swimmers. For about 10 years approx 2015 to 2022 when handing out sticks, Brian wore a hat with a plush dolphin attached on the crown of the hat with velcro. Early version was a baseball cap (see photo below).
This, the final version, is a beige cloth hat hat with wide brim, hat band, mesh crown with slight center crease, and leather chin straps with ends not attached.
The plush dolphin on top is light gray with paler gray underside, curved shape, and black plastic eyes.
Brian donated the final version of his hat to the Archives in September 2024.Dimensions
