Henry C. Peterson (1864-1934), a San Francisco native who competed as a professional racer from 1880 to 1900. He was a member of the Ariel Rowing Club, and in 1918 named an honorary member of the Dolphin Swimming and Boating Club. Following racing he owned a large fleet of launches and barges on San Francisco Bay.
