Scope and Content

Large Bible, belonged to George Bassford, an early Sevatopol pioneer. Bible is heavily bound in brown leather. The covers are deeply embossed and decorated with gold leaf. The name "George Bassford" is stamped in gold leaf in the middle of the front cover. The spine is falling apart and a dozen or so of the first pages are either missing or loose. Inside the front cover there are three plastic sheet protectors containing newspaper clippings - mostly of a religious nature, but a couple relating to the Bassford family: one a 1923 obit for Henry Bassford - and some other loose pages - notably the pages relating to Bassford family births, deaths and marriages.
