In July 1926, Peninsula State Park was crop-dusted with 6 tons of calcium arsenate in an effort to control an infestation of Hemlock Loopers, a caterpillar that was threatening the park’s hemlock trees. on the back of this photo was "first spraying in Peninsula Park 1926".
