Description

Traditonal Bunad and hat handmade by Constance Andrea (Anderson). Bunad is wool and black in color with various colored hand embrodiery in various floral patterns. Bunad is in excellent conditon and shows little signs of use and wear. Constance was an accomplished seamstress, needleworker, weaver, spinner and rosemaler. When she and Peary visited the Johnsrud family land in Valders Norway in 1975, she purchased a Valders pattern and Norwegian fabric and accessories to make a bunad in the traditional style, and spent many house sewing and hand embroidering it. As a member of the Sons of Norway she wore it on many occasions. The dress form it is on also was Constannce's and donated with the bunad. The shoes worn with the bunad are included and were purchased in Norway.
