Jacksonport Banking Grounds. The pier owners played the role of bankers and performed many banking functions. The farmers would cut wood all winter and bunk it on the banking grounds until opening of the shipping season. Cordwood banks covered the shoreline between the piers of LeMere and Reynolds. Both had mercantile establishments and the family owning the lumber could charge goods from the general store against the wood. In spring, a settlement was made between the family and the merchant. This area is now the Lakeside Town Park in Jacksonport.Collection
