Description

Lime Kilns - Door County at one time had dozens of lime kilns that produced lime. The largest kilns were two in the Town of Gardner on the shore of Green Bay (north of Lime Kiln Road). In 1872 they were built by F.B. Gardner and operated by him for a number of years. A pier at that kiln site was used to ship hundreds of barrels of lime.
