Name/Title

Steam Fire Engine "Big John" 3rd. & Kentucky

Entry/Object ID

2000.02.27

Description

Old fire engine at work at the corner of Cedar and St. John St. (now 3rd. & Kentucky). It is unknown if there is an actual fire or if the occasion is a demonstration or a fire practice. The Frank J. Shimmel Store can be seen on the opposite corner. The picture was taken before 1900 as the picket fence and small glimpses of the W.A. MacEacham home can be seen to the left. This home was razed for the construction of the Bank of Sturgeon Bay building at that location in 1900.
