Name/Title
Parallet Wayside - Hwy 42Entry/Object ID
2000.06.038Description
A wayside located between 6713 and 6721 on State Highway 42 just north of Wayside Lane near Egg Harbor. The 45th parallel (45 degrees north latitude) runs through this wayside. This is the geographical mid point between the equator and the north pole. But, because the earth is lightly flattened at the poles, the distance from the 45th parallel to the north pole is approximately 3,117 miles and to the equator approximately 3,105 miles. Polaris (North Star) is directly above the north pole. Therefore the angle between this point and Polaris is 45 degrees. This is one of the two waysides in Door County with this distinction. The other is on Hwy. 57.Collection
