Description

Original catalog description: "Framed photo of 11 mule teams with drivers prepared to spray cherry orchard." It was later identified as Martin Orchard by John Thenell whose father, Walter managed the orchard. The photo also includes two small Cletrac dozers (see http://cletrac.org/pages/model/pic-H.html) and several old autos and pickup trucks or tractors with trailers as well as many people standing on the vehicles. It was originally five 8x10 photos but in 2015, a copy of the five panels was made by Matt Orthober, digitally stitched together. When donated in 1973, some identifications were made on the back of the photos. A CD is also included with the 5 original photos that has the copy of the digitally stitched image. On 9 July 2016, Eileen (Osborne) Littig identified her family in the photo. Her mother was Fern (LaVassor) Osborne, whose sister Marie (LaVassor) LaFond and brother Donald LaVassor were also in the photo. Her grandparents Joseph "Dode" and Mary (Corbisier) LaVassor lived in the housing while working for James Martin as orchard foreman in the late nineteens and early twenties. The children attended Cherry School. Her mother Fern (b. 1908) later attended Door-Kewaunee Teachers' College and taught at Cherry School.
