Description

The Lawrence Meat Market on Cedar Street. This was owned by Sonnie's grandfather, Dudley Lawrence. Through the decades the store name has changed to Fischer's Super Value to Miller Clothing Store to the present Wilkens and Olander. Sonnie remembers there was a slaughterhouse behind the store and that her sister, Mary, actually liked plucking chickens. As for Sonnie, she enjoyed going to the farm with her father to pick out lambs, until she was old enough to realize their fate.
