A diptych. The front image is of a seated thin, attractive woman. She is beautifully attired in a dress with velvet trim on the arms and neckline. Her hands are crossed and she is holding a book. She wears gold earrings and a brooch at the neck and looks directly into the camera. One would guess her to be educated. The rear image is of a middle aged man and his teenage daughter. He is seated. The girl stands as he holds her hand. He has an unusual hair style and wears a somewhat garish brocaded vest and tie. He wears a long gold chain lorgnette and gold rings. The girl's dress is light, tactile, patterned and fringed and she wears a tie in her hair that falls behind her neck. She wears small hoop earrings. This would seem, perhaps, to be an immigrant father and daughter. And therefore an unlikely match with the woman. Old world relatives? or ?
