Description

Two Alaskan Eskimo dolls, a woman with a baby on her back, both wearing leather "Alaska" banners. They were acquired together- I believe the child belongs in the mother's banner.

The adult is approx. 11"high and 5 1/4" wide at the hands. The child is approx. 4" high and approx. 2" across hand to hand.

Material Notes

The adult's face is hard material, possibly leather, with the face delicately painted on with black and red ink. The adult's body is leather sewn with black thread and stuffed with unknown material. The adult wears a fur hood, fur cuffs, and fur around the waist and ankles. She also wears gloves with seal fur on the outside and black felt on the inside and boots with unknown fur on the outside and black felt on the inside. The child's body is entirely made of seal skin with the light tan fur on, but with the face area shaved and features painted on with black and red ink. She wears a hood of long whitish animal fur. The baby has a pink felt collar held with a single green bead in the center and wears two pink bead earrings. The baby's hands and feet are pink felt.
