Name/Title

Havasupai Tray

Description

Nice old winnowing (?) tray- well used. The warp strands are unpeeled willow and weft strands are split willow, with the split side on the interior and the bark side on the exterior, resulting in a beautiful design effect on the interior with alternating peeled and unpeeled willow. It has an interesting reinforced rim made by coiling on willow sticks- they are tied together with old cloth- possibly a native repair.
