Mohawk Birch Bark and Sweetgrass Quill BoxDescription
Old birchbark box with a red, green and white four petaled flower quill decoration on the lid and diamond or arrow like red, green and white quill designs on the sides. There are also three small stitches of white quill in the center of the base- possibly a signature. It has four coils of sweetgrass on the lid, one at the junction of the base and side, another on the base rim, and yet another where the lid coils meet the base. Written on the top is, "Mohawk Indian Reservation Caughnawaga Canada". Ethnography
